15 boxes of fireworks, guns confiscated from LI home on July Fourth: police

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police confiscated several boxes of fireworks, guns and bullets from a Long Island home on July Fourth, authorities said.

Officers conducted a search warrant inside a home on Pia Boulevard at 2:40 p.m. and confiscated two assault rifles, two handguns, high-capacity feeding devices, 15 boxes of fireworks and two firework cases, police said.

The homeowner, 52-year-old Christopher Giancola, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal contempt and other charges,

Giancola is scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Saturday, police said.
