Marquette Co. 17-year-old dead after car crash in Ely Township
ELY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJMN) – A teenager has died following a fatal car crash in Marquette County.
In the early-morning hours on Sunday, July 7, troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to an area east of the Greenwood Reservoir on County Road 482 near County Road CM in Ely Township for a personal injury crash.
Upon arrival, troopers located a vehicle about 30 yards off the roadway full engulfed in flames. Troopers immediately attempted to extinguish the fire and render aid to any occupants in the vehicle.
The vehicle was a white Ford SUV and was found lying on its ride side.
It appeared to have gone through numerous large trees before coming to rest. The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 17-year-old female from the local area.
First responders said she had died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
