UPDATE: Power restored in Montwood HS area

UPDATE: Power was restored to customers near Montwood High School after a brief power outage Monday afternoon, El Paso Electric officials said. The cause was mylar balloons coming into contact with power lines.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — About 2,400 customers are without power in East El Paso on Monday afternoon, June 24, according to the company’s outage map.

The outage is affecting the area near Montwood High School. According to El Paso Electric’s outage map, the outage was first reported at about 2:30 p.m. Power is expected to be restored about 4:45 p.m.

An El Paso Electric spokesman said they are investigating the cause of the outage and other details.
