2 arrested after crash, pursuit in Visalia

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two men were arrested after crashing while attempting to flee from police in Visalia, the Visalia Police Department said.

Officers say they were patrolling near Whitendale Avenue and Crenshaw Street around 2:40 p.m. when they spotted 40-year-old Arthur Madrid, who had multiple warrants. Madrid attempted to evade the officer but crashed his vehicle on Whitendale Avenue.

According to police, he and his passenger, 36-year-old Mark Montejano, exited the vehicle and ran into the neighborhood between Whitendale Avenue and Parkwood Street.

A perimeter was set up, and investigators say they, with the help of UAS, located the suspects hiding in a backyard. Both suspects were booked at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility. Montejano was booked under suspicion of resisting arrest and Madrid faces multiple warrants and is also being accused of property crimes like mail and identity theft.
