2 EPISD police officers charged with official oppression, other charges

UPDATE: DPS confirmed to KTSM that Sergeant John Solis and Officer Steve Romero are the EPISD police officers who were arrested.

According to court records, Solis has been charged with making a false report, improper influence, official oppression, tampering with a government record, and tampering with evidence.

Romero has been charged with official oppression and tampering with evidence, according to court records.

Both men were booked on June, 21, into the El Paso County Detention Facility and were released the same day on a cash or surety bond.

ORIGINAL: EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Two El Paso ISD police officers have been arrested and an investigation is currently ongoing, according to a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

KTSM has also reached out to the school district and they responded with the following statement:

“The District is aware of the ongoing investigation being conducted by the TX Rangers involving two EPISD Police officers. The District is fully cooperating with law enforcement officials on this matter.”
