Two Texas cities made a list of the top ten dirtiest cities in America for 2024.

Lawn care provider LawnStarter examined over 300 of the biggest U.S. cities and ranked them in terms of dirtiness using several factors. The categories analyzed were air pollution, water quality, waste management and dissatisfaction levels among residents. LawnStarter published the study's methodology on its site.

LIST: Top 10 dirtiest US cities

LawnStar's 2024 ranking of dirtiest cities in America named these as the ten dirtiest cities:

  1. San Bernardino, California

  2. Detroit, Michigan

  3. Reading, Pennsylvania

  4. Newark, New Jersey

  5. Ontario, California

  6. Phoenix, Arizona

  7. Trenton, New Jersey

  8. Las Vegas, Nevada

  9. Houston, Texas

  10. Baytown, Texas

Baytown had the worst air pollution ranking among all 303 cities in the study, with Houston coming in 12th. Houston also scored high with the worst infrastructure (27th) and resident dissatisfaction (50th).
