2 women wounded during exchange of gunfire overnight on South Side

Two women were wounded overnight during an exchange of gunfire near the Dearborn Homes in the Bronzeville neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m., two women, ages 24 and 28, were standing outside in the 2900 block of South Dearborn Street when there was an exchange of gunfire between two people who fled the scene on foot.

The younger woman suffered a gunshot wound to the back and the other woman was shot to the hand. Both victims were taken to Insight Hospital and listed in fair condition, police said.

No one was in custody for the shooting, and detectives were investigating.
