2024 New York primary results for the Southern Tier
SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. (WETM) — The Southern Tier joined the rest of New York State by holding primary elections on Tuesday, and the results are in.
Most Southern Tier residents stayed home during this primary election. The Southern Tier didn’t hold any Democratic primary elections, so only people registered as Republicans could vote on June 25. Additionally, only a handful of municipalities in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties were holding elections.
New York State’s Congressional Districts were recently redrawn, and portions of Schuyler and Steuben Counties are now in different districts. Previously, the entirety of both counties were in the 23rd Congressional District, but now, northern portions of both counties are in the 24th Congressional District. This means that people who live in areas of Wayland, Avoca, Cohocton, Burdett, and a small portion of Watkins Glen have a different person representing them in Congress. The 24th District was included in Tuesday’s primaries, but the 23rd District was not.
