$25K reward offered for information in fatal shooting of MSU grad
The Detroit Police Department, Crime Stoppers and ATF's Detroit Field Division are offering up to $25,000 for information about the fatal shooting of a Michigan State University graduate earlier this summer.
Jordan Thornhill was fatally shot at about 12:50 a.m. July 5 at a party he attended with friends in the 14000 block of Cherrylawn Street in northwest Detroit.
In a Facebook post, the law enforcement agencies said anyone with information about the crime should contact ATF at (972) 974-4867 or ATFTips@atf.gov, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, or Detroit Police Department Homicide at (313) 596-2260.
Thornhill graduated from MSU in December after landing a scholarship to the school, the family told the Free Press in July.
He already had a business shooting event photos and videos with a friend from his days at Renaissance High School in Detroit. He was doing political canvassing, looking for a job in his field of packaging and wanted to live at a Detroit family property for a year before moving down south.

Thornhill is believed to have been an innocent bystander, and police are asking the public to come forward with any possible information — even if they don’t think it would be relevant, Detroit Police Lt. Justin Sampson told the Free Press in July.
