The late Jimmy Buffett, famous for Margaritaville restaurants across the country and songs that serve as emblems of South Florida’s coastline, had three homes in Palm Beach that are now for sale.

The properties all stand along Root Trail and hardly more than 500 feet from the beach. They entered the market earlier this month, about 10 months after Buffett died from a rare form of skin cancer at age 76.

The triad of homes poised at the edge of the sea are deeply reminiscent of Buffett’s Key West songwriting roots. Buffett’s Top 10 hit, “Margaritaville,” written while he was stuck in traffic on the Overseas Highway on the way to the Keys, was inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry in April 2023.

Now, Buffett’s spirit is echoing in Palm Beach along one of the town’s oldest streets.

The first home, at 138 Root Trail, is currently priced at $7.25 million, according to Brown Harris Stevens, the listing agent. The real estate company provides luxury offerings across the country.

The 1,673 square-foot cozy, quintessential beach home was built in 1925, and Sadeca Realty purchased it in 2002 for $802,000, according to property records. (Buffett served as manager of Sadeca Realty, state records show.)

Brown Harris Stevens calls the home an “enchanting 1925 Key West Bungalow” located on a “highly sought-after ocean block.” The layout consists of a main house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms featuring a detached former music studio, which now counts as an additional bedroom with a bathroom. A blue fence and palm trees line the home’s perimeter.

The other for-sale properties are side-by-side, two-story homes at 135 Root Trail A and 135 Root Trail B. Buffett bought these in 2013, according to property records.

Like the 138 Root Trail home, Unit A embodies a classic beach-house feel with a pale yellow paint job, an upstairs balcony and nearly all-white interior. Built in 1926, the 2,450 square-foot home features three bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms and a one-car garage. The listing price is $6.65 million.

Unit B, the accompanying seaside cabana also built in 1926, is white with a green trim exterior and boasts a modern interior. At nearly $6.13 million, this 2,660 square-floor home has two bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms and a one-car garage. This unit also boasts a second-floor balcony.

Blake Hanley, the listing agent behind the three properties, declined to comment.
