3 from Lansing arrested after high-speed police chase

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Officials will seek charges against three people from Lansing after a high-speed chase through Livingston County.

6 News media partner WHMI has reported that the Livingston County deputies first spotted a white Dodge Challenger, reported stolen from Grand Rapids, early Saturday morning. Deputies then gave chase along I-96, near M-59.

The driver led the chase at 125 mph and then exited at Latson, where deputies lost the car. A Michigan State Police trooper soon saw the white Challenger on eastbound I-96. Brighton police tried to pull over the driver, who took off again and lost the officers in Hartland Township.

Someone called 911 soon after and reported the white Challenger was parked in the village of Hartland, and another person told deputies that they had seen three people walking eastbound away from the car.

Officers then set up a perimeter, and a Livingston County deputy caught the three people as they walked out from behind a garage at a Hartland elementary school.

WHMI reports that the suspects ignored the deputy’s initial commands, before back-up officers arrived and arrested the three people.

Officials are requesting charges against the driver of the white Challenger, a 29-year-old Lansing man, for fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, child abuse and resisting arrest, WHMI reported.

They are also seeking charges against a 26-year-old Lansing man for possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, and against a 58-year-old Lansing woman for operating without insurance.
