1 dead, 2 others injured in East Village stabbing: NYPD

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (PIX11) — One person was killed and two others injured during a stabbing in the East Village on Sunday evening, police said.

The NYPD received multiple 911 calls for several people stabbed on East 14th Street. Three people were discovered with stab wounds, police said.

A 52-year-old woman was stabbed in the leg, and a 38-year-old man was stabbed in the back. They were both expected to recover from their injuries, police said.

A 38-year-old man was stabbed in the neck. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said.

Several NYPD officers, two police vehicles, and one FDNY truck responded to the scene. The area was closed to the public while police investigated, video of the scene showed.

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody, according to the NYPD. No charges have been filed, as of early Monday morning.

Additional information regarding what led to the stabbing and whether the victims knew the suspect was not immediately available. The identity of the man who died was being held by police until his family could be notified.
