4 adult teens steal $6,400 in merchandise from sporting goods store, Olympia police say

Four adult teens, ages 18 and 19, were arrested last week after they stole merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods at Capital Mall, according to Olympia police.

The value of the stolen merchandise, which was mostly clothing, was estimated at $6,400, Olympia police Lt. Paul Lower said.

About 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, the four men entered the store off Capital Mall Drive and each grabbed armfuls of clothing before exiting the business.

As they exited, a person outside tried to get pictures of their vehicle, but one of the suspects threatened to harm that person, Lower said.

The four were finally stopped by police on northbound Interstate 5 near Martin Way, he said.

All were arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, Lower said. One member of the group also faced an additional charge of harassment for threatening the person trying to take pictures of the vehicle, he said.
