66-year-old Pensacola man in serious condition after hit-and-run driver ran stop sign

A 66-year-old Pensacola man is in serious condition after a driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with his vehicle on North Pace Boulevard on Saturday.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the intersection of Pace Boulevard and West Lloyd Street after a hit-and-run driver drove through a stop sign and collided with the Pensacola man's pickup truck.

"The collision caused Vehicle 2 to rotate in a counterclockwise manner, coming to final rest facing west in the intersection of North Pace Boulevard and West Lloyd Street," an FHP report said.

An anonymous witness reported to FHP that a Black male was driving a vehicle matching their description without a tag, saying the man covered the vehicle with blankets and entered a home on the 300 block of North M Street.

FHP obtained a search warrant for the home, but did not find the suspect. An address associated with the vehicle led to a foreclosed home with no one to contact.

The investigation remains ongoing.
