67-year-old Milton woman dies after getting ejected from airborne van

A 67-year-old Milton woman is dead after her van went airborne on State Road 87 in Santa Rosa County Monday.

Florida Highway Patrol says a 65-year-old woman was driving a Honda Odyssey south on SR 87 with the 67-year-old as a passenger when she ran off the roadway, collided with garbage cans and drove straight toward an embankment.

"The van became airborne, collided with the ground and rolled over," FHP said. "The driver and rear passenger were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries."

During the crash, the 67-year-old woman was ejected from the van, dying from the serious injuries.

FHP did not release the cause of the incident.
