78-year-old killed in deadly crash in Lancaster County: SCHP

LANCASTER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 78-year-old died in a vehicle crash in Lancaster Friday, South Carolina Highway Patrol says.

Around 9:45 a.m., the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to Highway 9 (Pageland Highway) in reference to a two-car vehicle crash.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Highway 9 near Eastway Drive, east of Lancaster.

According to SCHP, the driver of the Honda sedan was traveling east on Highway 9 when it collided head-on with the driver of a 2004 Nissan SUV traveling west.

The driver and passenger of the Nissan SUV were injured and taken to USC Lancaster Medical Center.

The driver of the Honda sedan was pronounced dead on the scene and was later identified as 78-year-old Judy Stacks of Lancaster.

The incident is being investigated by South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
