Iowa DOT closing Interstate 80 eastbound Tuesday night in West Des Moines to shift lanes
If you are driving near West Des Moines on Interstate 80 on Tuesday, be sure to plan for a wait time because parts of the interstate will be closed for construction.
Where is the I-80 road closure?
The Iowa Department of Transportation will close the road eastbound on I-80 in West Des Moines. The closure will be between Jordan Creek Parkway and the Intestate 80/35 interchange.
What is the detour when I-80 is closed in West Des Moines?
Drivers headed eastbound can follow the DOT's detour route by exiting at Jordan Creek Parkway, heading north to University Avenue, continuing east and rejoining the interstate at the University Avenue interchange for I-80/35.
When will the construction conclude?
The road will remain closed from 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. This will allow contractors to adjust the eastbound lane to normal traffic patterns that may cause a delay, according to a news release from the Iowa DOT.
