PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three months after his arrest, an 83-year-old man was sentenced to five years in prison for public indecency, and authorities say they believe there could be more victims out there.

The Washington County district attorney’s office says Gary Douglas Caughey pleaded guilty to public indecency on June 3 and will serve five years in prison with no eligibility for a reduction in sentence and will have to register as a sex offender once he’s released.

Authorities say that on March 9, Caughey went to a Target store in Beaverton wearing a hooded sweatshirt and he followed around young girls while masturbating.

Two teenagers eventually noticed him and alerted the store. Several employees confronted Caughey but he left before they could get his name. Employees did manage to note his license plate number.

The license plate was used to identify the suspect and employees confirmed Caughey was the suspect.

Caughey was arrested at his house the next day after he admitted to being at the Target, according to the Washington County district attorney’s office. He had the same sweatshirt on which officers examined and found it had a hole cut through part of the center pocket so he could access his genitalia while hidden under the sweatshirt.

Caughey has a long criminal history all the way back to 1973 which includes crimes like rape and kidnapping in both Oregon and Nebraska and has spent decades in prison.

Deputies said there could still be additional victims who haven’t been identified yet and they are asking anyone with information to contact Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
