93-year-old man from western Wisconsin found dead in Fox River next to his vacation residence

(WFRV) – Authorities in Marquette County say a 93-year-old man was found dead in the Fox River next to his vacation residence.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page about a man who was found dead in the Fox River. On July 25 around d 5:30 p.m. a 911 call came in stating that a person was face down in the Fox River next to his vacation residence, according to authorities.

The release says that authorities got to the scene and determined that the man was dead. The incident was described as accidental and did not happen at the River’s Bend Campground.

Authorities identified the man as 93-year-old Gerald Schmidt from Trempealeau. No additional information was provided.
