Albuquerque mother enters plea deal after baby dies with meth in system
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – More than a year after police said an Albuquerque mother was responsible for her four-month-old daughter, court documents show she has now agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors.
According to court records, officers responded to a home in northeast Albuquerque to reports of an infant not breathing. They said, when they arrived, the child’s mother, identified as Christina Bennett, refused to give the infant to medical personnel.

Police stated Bennett’s grandfather called police when she arrived at their home, saying the infant was dead. Authorities claimed they were told Bennett would do drugs while holding the infant. An autopsy on the infant revealed meth in her system, believed to have happened while the baby was being breastfed.
Court records also claimed Bennett shoplifted from a Circle K gas station a few days before with the naked infant in her arms. Bennett is accused of fleeing from officers when she was confronted, speeding off, and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Documents state her attorneys and prosecutors have reached a plea agreement. The terms of that agreement are not known at this time.
