HILLSDALE — ALDI is coming to Hillsdale but the timeline for construction of their new retail site remains unclear.

ALDI submitted a site plan to the city of Hillsdale’s Planning Commission for review to build a new store directly across from Hillsdale’s new Meijer store which opened this spring.

The site sits on the corner of Carleton Road and Moore Road.

ALDI’s Webberville division vice president Ryan Fritsch, was unable to provide any additional information on the grocery chain’s plan to expand into Hillsdale.

“At this time, we do not have any information to share regarding a future store in Hillsdale,” Fritsch stated in an email to The Hillsdale Daily News.

A news release issued on March 7 indicated ALDI intends to add 800 additional stores nationwide by the end of 2028 but the locations of the new stores was not disclosed.

"We're obviously interested in any developers interested in coming into the city of Hillsdale," said Sam Fry, the marketing and economic development director for the city of Hillsdale said. "There's a lot of momentum in Hillsdale with what's been going on recently."
