9-year-old Durham boy found, mother arrested after Amber Alert issued

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police have found a missing 9-year-old boy after an Amber Alert issued late Thursday night.

CBS 17 has learned that Durham police have located Geon King-Parriett and his mother at an apartment complex on the 2200 block of South Roxboro Street in Durham on Friday.

The mother, Mariah King, was taken into police custody and transported to the Durham County jail. Geon is in police custody as well.

North Carolina officials describe him as 4-foot-10 tall and weighs 100 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.

Officials believe Geon has been abducted by his biological mother, Mariah King. Mariah is described as 43-years-old, 5-foot-4 tall and weighs 140 pounds. She also has brown hair and brown eyes. The woman was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a black crop top, with her hair wrapped in a bun with a ponytail.

Their last known location was 202 S. Benjamine Street.
