American Airlines flight diverted to Buffalo after man allegedly exposes himself and urinates in aisle

An Oregon man is facing charges after allegedly exposing himself and urinating in the aisle on an American Airlines flight, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York.

The flight, originally bound for Manchester, New Hampshire, was diverted to Buffalo.

Neil McCarthy, 25, charged with indecent exposure, according a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly, who is prosecuting the case, said that on Wednesday the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority (NFTA) Police were called to Gate 2 at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Upon landing, an officer boarded the plane, and a flight attendant confirmed McCarthy's actions. McCarthy was taken into custody and escorted off the aircraft, Kruly said.

If convicted, McCarthy would face a maximum penalty of six months in prison and a $5,000 fine, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

McCarthy made an initial appearance in court on Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance.
