Anchorage man killed in Seward Highway collision

Jun. 10—A 75-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after the pickup he was driving on the Seward Highway crossed the center line and collided with another truck towing an RV, Alaska State Troopers said.

Dennis Wasuli, of Anchorage, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said Monday. The collision occurred near Ingram Creek on the Kenai Peninsula near Turnagain Arm.

Wasuli was northbound in a Chevrolet S-10 when he crossed over into oncoming traffic "for unknown reasons" and hit the other pickup, troopers spokesman Justin Freeman said in an email. A driver and passenger in the pickup were transported to an Anchorage hospital with injuries troopers described as not life-threatening.

Road conditions were normal at the time of the collision, Freeman said. An investigation continues, but troopers said alcohol did not appear to be involved.

The highway was closed for about six hours.
