Anderson man charged with child molesting, sexual misconduct

Jul. 1—ANDERSON — An Anderson man has been arrested on charges of child molesting and sexual misconduct involving two children under the age of 15.

Kevin E. Germain Jr., 41, 200 block of West Ninth Street, was arrested by Anderson police Saturday on two felony counts of child molesting and two counts of sexual misconduct.

If convicted on the child molesting charge, Germain faces a possible prison sentence of 20-40 years. He faces a possible sentence of 6-to-12 years on the sexual misconduct charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit, during forensic interviews at Kids Talk, a 13-year-old boy said Germain had him participate in sexual activity and in exchange would give him candy.

The boy said the incidents took place as many as 15 times in 2016 and 2017, the affidavit said.

A 15-year-old girl said in a Kids Talk interview that Germain performed sexual acts on her repeatedly from the time she was 7 years old, according to the affidavit. The girl said Germain told her not to tell anyone because he didn't want to go back to prison, the affidavit said.

During an interview with police, Germain denied the allegations.

Germain was convicted in 2011 on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to six years, with four years executed in prison.
