Anniversary of Chicago’s hottest official temperature; Hazardous Heat Outlook
Wednesday marked the 90 year anniversary of Chicago’s hottest “official” temperature on record: July 24, 1934 the mercury reached 105 degrees.
Note: one day earlier at Midway Airport (not official at the time) logged a high temperature of 109 degrees.

Wednesday high temperatures: How much above normal?
NOAA-WPC (Weather Prediction Center) has the Chicago area outlooked for potential hazardous heat next Monday through Wednesday. The combination of near 90 degree temperatures with high levels of humidity will create peak heat indices well into the 90s.
Western heat to spread east into the Midwest at the tail end of the month, continuing the opening week of August.
