Another Big Country school employee arrested
Coming on the heels of Abilene's private school scandal, an Anson Independent School District employee has been arrested in connection with lewd images of children found on his devices.
Daril Martin Gonzales, 55, was arrested Wednesday "on charges of possession or promotion of lewd visual material depicting a child," according to an Abilene Police Department press release. Gonzales was transported to the Jones County Jail Wednesday.
He was being held there Friday morning without bond, according to the Jones County Sheriff's Office.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
'An ongoing investigation'
APD detectives received a tip on Gonzales from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They subsequently began an investigation.
Detectives found images on Gonzales' "electronic devices that depicted lewd exhibition of genitalia of children," according to the press release.
APD's cyber crimes division arrested Gonzales Wednesday "with the assistance of the Anson Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Texas Rangers."
According to the press release, Gonzales was an employee of the Anson Independent School District, who also produced photographs for a personal business. The investigation is ongoing.
He is not listed, however, as a current employee with the Anson Independent School District.
APD Detectives are asking anyone with information on suspected questionable contact Gonzales may have had with family members to contact the APD at 325-676-6614.
