Former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci said he thinks former President Donald Trump could replace Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) amid reports that some Republicans have privately shared regret over the choice.

“I mean, that’s what ‘The Apprentice’ is all about,” Scaramucci, who famously had a 10-day stint as Trump’s White House communications director, told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Thursday.

“Of course, I’ve had that experience with Donald Trump. I do think he could. It’s just a question of how many Scaramuccis JD is going to last. We got the shot clock on right now.”

Vance’s pastremarks — and at least one awkward rally moment — have made headlines since Trump named him as his choice for vice president earlier this month.

His 2021 dig calling Democrats “childless cat ladies” has sparked backlash from lawmakers, entertainers and potential running mate picks for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.

Scaramucci, a frequent Trump critic, told Collins that Trump’s post-election obituary will deem it a “terrible mistake” that he didn’t appeal to a broader GOP base with a potential VP pick like former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

“He went hard MAGA. He went with a strange guy that’s very dull on stage and you know, Trump hates that,” Scaramucci said.

“You covered him in the White House, I worked with him in the White House, there’s nothing that Trump hates more than dull people and you know JD, I think, stands for ‘just dull.’”

He added that Vance is “not doing well on the stump” for Trump.

“He’s hurting him, the memes on social media are killing him, the net negatives are terrible for the vice president,” Scaramucci said.

He continued, “The vice president in a Trump campaign is supposed to get out of the way and he has become an issue for Donald Trump. So, you know, he could have picked Nikki Haley or he could have picked somebody but Trump is such a narcissist he didn’t want anybody taking credit for his electoral success.”
