APD arrests man for June 2024 murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department arrested Deluvino Salazar on Tuesday for the murder of Samuel Chavez-Aquiar. Officers responded to a shooting around 9:30 p.m. on June 9 near a smoke shop on Central near Wyoming.

Surveillance video showed Chavez-Aquiar in a parking lot and exchanging words with someone in a silver Cadillac SUV. Both men pulled guns and Chavez-Aquiar moved toward the business. Video then showed him falling after being shot.

APD said video from several ART bus stations was used to track the Cadillac which was traced to Salazar. He has been charged with murder, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy.
