APD: Suspect in custody after SWAT response on Teri Road

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said a suspect is now in custody after a SWAT unit responded to a report of a barricaded subject in southeast Austin on Wednesday.

Police said the call originally came in at 11:14 a.m. as a gun hotshot call that was believed to be a domestic disturbance. Police said the suspect was seen running away from the scene on Teri Road to a nearby storage facility, and police believed he had a gun.

Shortly before 3:45 p.m., APD said the SWAT unit responded to the barricaded subject call.

Later, the suspect was taken into custody without incident and a gun was found at the storage facility. An arrest warrant was issued for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – family violence, APD said.

The victim had minor injuries, police said.
