Arlington pastor who served on city Unity Council faces sexual assault, indecency charges

An Arlington pastor and community leader has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation, police said, and anyone with more information is asked to come forward.

Ronnie Goines, 51, turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday. The Arlington Police Department’s sex crimes unit had taken out warrants for his arrest on one count of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.

A woman “made an outcry” in June, police said, and detectives filed criminal charges against Goines after an investigation. Police said they are limited in the details they can release because of the nature of the case.

Goines is the lead pastor and a founder of Koinonia Christian Church, according to its website. He’s also a former member of the Arlington Police Department’s Clergy and Police Partnership and previously served on the city’s Unity Council, police said. His biography on the church website says he owns an insurance agency.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact Detective Williams at (817) 459-5312.
