Arrest made in Crystal Lake child pornography case

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — A Crystal Lake man was arrested and charged with possessing child pornography and grooming, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Deputies said members of the MCSO Criminal Investigations Division served a search warrant in the 200 block of South Dole Avenue Tuesday for Nicholas S. Kachiroubas, who was taken into custody and later charged with possession of child pornography (class 2 felony) and grooming (class 4 felony).

Deputies said The National Center of Missing and Exploited Children gave the MCSO information in April 2024 letting them know about what they called “online enticement of children for sexual acts.”

After the MCSO received the information, deputies said they launched an investigation that led to the identification of Kachiroubas, and his alleged involvement in possession of child sexual abuse material (child pornography) and grooming.

Kachiroubas is currently awaiting his next court hearing in the McHenry County Jail.
