Arrest made after woman shot in front of her kids, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was shot by her boyfriend in front of their children one month after filing a police report on him, Memphis Police say.

ORIGINAL STORY: Suspect wanted after allegedly shooting girlfriend in front of their children

Kristopher Jackson, 39, is charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, three counts of Reckless Endangerment, Employment of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

On May 10, officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Ironwood Drive at around 5 p.m.

Reports state that the victim told Jackson she did not want to be in a relationship with him anymore. That led to an argument in their yard.

When the girlfriend turned to walk away, Jackson allegedly shot her in the back. One of the victim’s children told officers she saw Jackson trying to put her mother in his truck.

The three children were inside at the time of the shooting and were not injured. The victim was taken to Regional One and is currently in critical condition, police say.

Records show that Jackson was charged with Aggravated Assault in 2015.

Also, the victim in this incident filed a police report against Jackson on April 5, 2024. She told police he put a gun to her head and threatened to kill her in front of their third child.

Jackson is being held on a $1,500,000 bond. He is set to appear back in court on Monday.
