The late Billy Graham's son and Asheville native Franklin Graham will take the stage at the Republican National Convention just ahead of former President Donald Trump's speech Thursday.

Graham followed in his father's footsteps as an American evangelist and missionary in the evangelical movement. He is the president of Samaritan's Purse, an evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization meant to provide aid to people in "physical need." Graham also is the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

The American evangelist has been a longtime Trump ally and took part in Trump's inauguration in 2017 by saying a prayer during it.

When Graham speaks he regularly addresses moral and social issues by "calling Christians to stand for Biblical values and challenging them to make a difference in the world for the sake of the Gospel,” states the Billy Graham Association website.

Here's when Graham will be speaking at the RNC Thursday night.

Graham said God “spared” Trump over the weekend against an attempted assassination.

“I cannot explain why God would save one life and allow another one to be taken. I don’t have the answer for that,” the reverend said, referring to firefighter Corey Compertore who was killed in the shocking attack at Trump's Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

Multiple speakers have made divine allusions to explain Trump's survival over the weekend. Some have mentioned Compertore as well.

Graham included the Compertore family in his prayer at the conclusion of his address.
