Modeling Years, 1997
While taking a break from studying biochemical engineering at a bar near the University of Iowa, a modeling scout spotted Kutcher. Soon thereafter, he won the 1997 Fresh Faces of Iowa modeling competition and dropped out of college to take advantage of the prize: a trip to New York for an international modeling convention. "I didn't know guys even did that," Kutcher told the New York Daily News later of his experience on the catwalk. "I thought Fabio was the only male model." After stripping down to his boxers for Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein jeans ad campaigns, Kutcher's star abs were born.
Dude, Where's My Car?, 2000
Although his first big role on That ‘70s Show brought him into many American homes, this blockbuster stoner comedy offered Kutcher the breakthrough role he needed to solidify his spot as hot Hollywood funnyman. In Dude, Where's My Car?, Kutcher's character doesn't just misplace his Renault supermini vehicle; he also loses his shirt long enough to get one of the dumbest tattoos in film history, which subsequently leads to one of the dumbest scenes.
The Butterfly Effect, 2004
He may have covered his chin with some undergraduate facial hair in this attempt to tackle the sci-fi time-travel genre, but Kutcher still could not stay covered up from the neck down. The bearded psych major character's obsessive studying eventually leads Kutcher to a scene in a mental institution. Though this would seem to be the actor's opportunity to showcase his dramatic skills, he instead defaults to not wearing any clothes.
A Lot Like Love, 2005
Kutcher and co-star Amanda Peet joined the cinematic mile-high club in this 2005 chick flick. The two meet on an airplane and immediately have sex. Kutcher's character goes on to have a fling with another woman in a car and then on a beach… seemingly, a clothing-optional one. "For other people, I like them being nude, but me not so much," he said in an interview promoting the movie. "I had this banana thong with like a catcher's mitt to wear. It was a little awkward."
What Happens in Vegas, 2008
In his Sin City jaunt, Kutcher plays a carpenter who accidentally marries a stock broker (Cameron Diaz) after a drunken fling in this romantic comedy fraught with shirtless opportunities. In order to get a divorce, a judge tells the newlyweds they must live together for six months, which eventually leads her to strip to her bra and him to his boxers. "Before I started the movie, I worked with a trainer because I couldn't have my leading lady be in better shape than me," Kutcher said in an interview. "Cameron gave me such a tough time. She'd say, ‘Are you still working out?'" Peer pressure sometimes leads to success.
Personal Effects, 2009
A mere 243 seconds into this little-seen drama, Kutcher's shirt is once again off. The actor plays a college wrestler who moves home after his twin sister is murdered. He finds a job as a man in a chicken suit, which he obviously takes off whenever possible. As the trial begins, he starts sleeping with an older woman (Michelle Pfeiffer) whose husband was also killed. Unfortunately, not even a close up of Kutcher's pecs could save this movie from limping straight to video.

This cougar tale features Kutcher as a Los Angeles homeless playboy who drifts from relationship to relationship in search of shelter and cash. He seduces a powerful lawyer played by Anne Heche and moves into her mansion, where they sit by the pool and have sex. "Day one, it was definitely uncomfortable," Kutcher said in an interview with the Film School Rejects. "Walking out there, dropping trou and playing a scene and not thinking about the fact that you were naked because this guy was pretty confident being naked. After a while, your senses become immune to it."
Chest Waxing Home Video, 2009
In this homemade YouTube video from the set of his 2010 film Killers, Kutcher claimed that he's never had his chest waxed before, thanks to his previous hair-encouraging roles. "When you're on a show like That ‘70s Show, you don't have to worry about stuff like this," he said. But because his stunt double for the movie was bare-chested, Kutcher was forced to follow suit. The result is a lot of pulling, ripping, and screaming—not unlike a certain cringe-worthy scene from The 40-Year-Old Virgin. "It's a choice thing," Kutcher later explains of his pro-fur stance. "Some people go hardwood, some people like carpet."
Killers, 2010
Why would one bother with clothes to take a ride down a hotel elevator? "I was actually lobbying for a shirt," Kutcher insisted to MTV News when this 2010 action-fueled romantic comedy hit theaters. "But I was vetoed." Kutcher later said he regretted letting his wife Demi Moore see the film—and not because of its awful reviews. "Now she expects [my body] to look like that," he said in another interview. "I disappoint her every evening. I walk in to get ready to go to bed and she's just, ‘Oh.'"
No Strings Attached, 2011
This weekend's new romantic comedy has Kutcher playing an aspiring screenwriter who develops a "with benefits" type of relationship with his close female friend (Natalie Portman). Naturally, his wardrobe is minimal—in one scene, for example, he manages to strategically cover himself with a couch pillow. "I intentionally didn't work out," Kutcher said recently. "The character wasn't really a guy who would be working out a lot… so stuff where I had my shirt off… I wasn't really comfortable with myself."
