Assault with a deadly weapon suspect arrested after barricade in Harvard Heights

A person suspected of assault with a deadly weapon was taken into custody after an hourslong barricade situation.

The incident was first reported at 12:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of Westmoreland Boulevard in L.A.’s Harvard Heights neighborhood, authorities said.

Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly what happened, but authorities said a knife was allegedly used in the assault.

As of 6:47 p.m., the person was still barricaded. It’s unknown if any victims were barricaded with the suspect, who has yet to be identified.

By 9 p.m., authorities confirmed to KTLA that the man had been arrested. No further details were provided.
