Avelo offering 9 new flights out of Florida. Here's what you should know, and where you can go

Avelo Airlines announced 18 new routes this week, including seven out of one Florida airport: Lakeland International.

Two other Florida airports also will see new routes: Daytona Beach International Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

Avelo Airlines described the new routes as "part of the largest expansion in company history," in a news release.

What flights will be available out of LAL, Lakeland International Airport, Florida?

Avelo announced Wednesday, July 24, it will expand options out of LAL with seven, new nonstop routes to:

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), starts Oct. 26

  • Atlanta (ATL), starts Nov. 7

  • Boston / Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT), starts Oct. 25

  • Charlotte / Concord (USA), starts Oct. 24

  • Hartford, Connecticut (BDL), starts Nov. 8

  • Philadelphia / Wilmington, Delaware (ILG), starts Nov. 7

  • Rochester, New York (ROC), starts Oct. 25

The addition of the seven new routes join Avelo’s current nonstop service to Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).

Avelo said the routes will be available twice a week, using the Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. One-way fares start at $52.

Lakeland International to become Avelo's Central Florida base

"LAL will serve as Avelo’s Central Florida base, operating dual operations at LAL as an extension of its existing operations at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Avelo will initially base one aircraft at LAL," the company said.

"This expansion enables Avelo to significantly expand its affordable, convenient and reliable air service in Central Florida."

New Avelo flight available from Daytona Beach International Airport, DAB

Also announced Wednesday was a new non-stop flight out of Daytona Beach International Airport, DAB.

The new route will fly to Hartford, Connecticut (BDL) starting Nov. 8.

Flights will be scheduled on Fridays and Mondays via Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

People can take advantage of "very low" fares for a limited time. One-way tickets will start at $83 for flights scheduled through Nov. 18, but the flights must be booked by July 31 to take advantage of the rate.

Avelo began operating in Daytona Beach just over a year ago, on June 22, 2023. The airline currently offers service to New Haven, Connecticut, three times a week, according to the Daytona Beach International Airport.

New Avelo flight added to Southwest Florida International Airport, RSW

Also announced Wednesday was a new flight out of Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. RSW.

The new route will fly to Wilmington, North Carolina, ILM, starting Nov. 7. The flight will be available twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, using the Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Introductory one-way fares start at $67.

Avelo Airlines has a fleet of 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

The Boeing 737-700 has 149 seats, with 44 "extra leg room seats."

The 737-800 has 189 seats, with 57 "extra leg room seats."
