A ‘Bachelorette’ Season 21 contestant hails from Elk Grove. Who is Dylan Buckor?

Elk Grove native, and devoted Kings fan, Dylan Buckor is a contestant on the newest season of “The Bachelorette.”

Starring physician’s assistant student Jenn Tran as the Bachelorette, this season the show features 25 men competing to win her heart and claim the final rose, which may even lead to marriage.

The Season 21 premiere episode, which aired Monday night, saw seven men eliminated from the lineup. Buckor is among the remaining cast.

Buckor, 24, attended Pleasant Grove High School and played on the varsity volleyball team as an outside hitter. As a senior, he was 6-foot-6. Having dreamed of becoming a doctor since he was a child, Buckor is now in the process of applying for medical schools. In a June video he posted on TikTok, he said he plans to apply to 27 different schools.

After high school, Buckor attended California State University, Fullerton before transferring to Sacramento State, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2023. In college, he continued to play volleyball while also participating in the pre-health club and Delta Chi fraternity at Fullerton. At Sacramento State, he served as a peer-assisted learning facilitator.

Throughout his high school and college years, Buckor worked at popular chain businesses such as In-N-Out Burger and Dutch Bros. Coffee. He now works as a medical scribe, documenting patient information and exam results for health records, with Scribe America.

Buckor also has a sense of humor regarding the hard work it takes to become a doctor, posting another TikTok in June that lists all of the things he would rather do than take the MCAT again, including “drink expired milk for a month,” “get dunked on (impossible),” “step on Legos,” and be “locked in a room with Jojo Siwa.”

“Dylan might be young, but he knows exactly what he wants in life and is very serious about finding a wife with whom to settle down,” reads his official biography on “The Bachelorette” website. “His parents are still together and have provided him with the example of love he hopes to find in life.”

On the side, Buckor began tutoring elementary-aged children from low-income families in February.

Buckor has participated in reality dating productions before, appearing in two different YouTube videos by nectar. The channel produces videos with themes such as blind dates, 21 questions, and speed dating.

His most recent appearance was in a video where a professional matchmaker observed his interactions with a set of 10 women and gradually narrowed down the pool in hopes of finding a suitable match. It now seems like that connection is in the past, though, as Buckor appears on-screen to vie for Tran’s love in “The Bachelorette.”
