BCSO: Corrections officer accidentally shot himself

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) — A corrections officer at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the foot.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said the incident happened outside of the MDC security checkpoint around 12:30 on Friday.

Second suspect arrested for deadly 2021 Halloween party shooting in SE ABQ

BCSO stated the shooting was reported as an accidental discharge. No inmates or other officers were involved.

Officials said the officer was treated and released from the hospital. BCSO and MDC are investigating.

It was notable how similar the concerns over AI were to the ones that I heard about the fledgling cloud all those years ago: Companies were concerned about governance (check), security (check) and responsible use of a new technology (check). Today, CIOs recognize if they just say no to generative AI, employees are probably going to find a way to use these tools anyway.
