Beryl is only hours away from its final landfall in Texas

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Beryl is less than 150 miles off Texas’s Gulf Coast. Landfall is likely near Palacios, Bay City, and Lake Jackson. All of which are approximately 50-100 miles southwest of Galveston.

Beryl is expected to strengthen to a hurricane before landfall, though, currently, it is a tropical storm with winds of 65 mph and it is moving slower at 12 mph.

Houston is already seeing significant urban flooding with hours of rain expected to continue, and most of the rain is expected to fall tomorrow. Rainfall totals along the central Gulf Coast of Texas will range from 7-10 inches, with isolated areas likely seeing more than 15 inches. The flooding with be devastating but coastal areas will also have to brace for tropical storm force winds arriving around midnight and 4-7 feet of storm surge.

Beryl will impact more than Texas with gusty winds and inches of rain for portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisana, and Missouri.
