Best places for families to live? This Middle Tennessee town cracked Fortune's top ten

Fortune has released its yearly ranking of the Best Places to Live for Families and one Middle Tennessee city made the list.

Over the past three years, Fortune has released their top 50 cities for Best Places to Live for Families. “In our analysis of over 2,000 cites across the county, the ones that topped our ranking scored high on assists like health care, education, affordability and resources for seniors,” the business magazine wrote.

For their 2024 rankings, Franklin cracked the top ten. Here's why:

How did Franklin get to be among the top 50 U.S. cities?

Since the founding of Franklin in 1799, the Williamson County town has continuously grown while keeping its historic charm.

Located 20 miles south of Nashville, Franklin offers a variety of music venues, shopping centers and a lively downtown area that host a series of festivals including Dickens of a Christmas which draws thousands every year.

Franklin is also the home to the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival which has previously hosted acts such as Justin Timberlake and Dave Matthews Band.

Do students perform well in Franklin high-schools?

High schools in the community are top rated and possess an average 96% graduation rate. According to US News, three out of the five Franklin schools are ranked in the top 10 for Williamson County.

In terms of affordability, Franklin is a part of the most expensive county in Tennessee. The median household income is $129,200 with Franklin ranking as one of the most expensive cities in the state.
