President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign team used an image from “The Handmaid’s Tale” to warn what future Independence Day celebrations may look like if Donald Trump returns to the White House.

“Fourth of July under Trump’s Project 2025,” the campaign captioned this still from the TV adaptation of author Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel centered on the subjugation of women in a totalitarian society.

“Project 2025” refers to the right-wing Heritage Foundation’s handbook of policies and strategies that are widely expected to form the bedrock of a second Trump administration, should he win the 2024 election.

The think tank’s wish list of extreme proposals includes measures aimed at restricting access to abortion pills and contraception.
