President Joe Biden is scheduled to campaign Friday in Detroit, his first trip to Michigan amid calls to drop out of the race from some Democrats and political observers. The Biden campaign did not release any details of the event.

The president’s performance at the first debate against presumptive GOP nominee former President Donald Trump last month has been widely criticized, but Biden has repeatedly said he’s not withdrawing from the race. He campaigned in Pennsylvania over the weekend and held a rally in Wisconsin on Friday.

Both presidential candidates are aggressively targeting Michigan this year, as it was decisive to Trump’s 2016 victory and Biden’s 2020 win.

Biden has visited Michigan three previous times this year, with his last trip to the state in May when he headlined the Detroit NAACP’s annual dinner. California Gov. Gavin Newsom stumped for Biden in West Michigan on Thursday. First lady Jill Biden did several events in West and northern Michigan on Wednesday.

Trump last campaigned in Michigan in June, doing an event at a Detroit church and speaking at the Turning Point Action conference. That was his time back in the state since being convicted of 34 felonies in a hush money scandal tied to the 2016 election.
