Joe Biden will deliver a prime-time address Wednesday to explain why he ended his pursuit for a second-term in the White House.

The president is expected to talk at 8 p.m. His address, the first since he said Sunday he had decided to quit the race, will likely be carried on most major TV networks and cable news channels.

ABC has already adjusted its programming schedule to accommodate the speech, blocking out the 8 o’clock hour.

"Tomorrow evening at 8 PM ET, I will address the nation from the Oval Office on what lies ahead, and how I will finish the job for the American people," Biden posted on social media Tuesday.

Biden had promised to finish out his term, which expires on Jan. 20, 2025 when the next president is sworn in.

That matchup now appears to be former President Donald Trump - who had hounded the 81-year-old Biden over his age and perceptions about his mental and physical acuity - and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Harris quickly gathered Biden’s endorsement Sunday and then consolidated that momentum by securing enough delegate commitments to formally take Biden’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention next month.

What will Biden say?

It’s not known yet what Biden will say about leaving the race and why he made a jarring about face over the weekend after nearly a month of swatting away speculation he was no longer fit to challenge the surging MAGA movement.

Biden hasn’t spoken at length about his decision. Until Tuesday, he had been convalescing at home in Delaware with his third round of COVID.
