Since President Biden’s cringeworthy debate meltdown, many Democrats have been in full blown panic mode. Shall we ditch Biden? Can we ditch Biden?

According to a recent CNN poll, three quarters of all American voters now say that the Democrats would have a better chance of winning in November if they replace Biden as their candidate.

Fine, but who would replace him? Vice President Kamala Harris? Not Miss Popularity among Democrats. Gretchen Whitmer? “Has no interest.” Gavin Newsom? Strong debater, looks great on TV, but being from California is a major drawback. Hillary Clinton? That would be sweet revenge for her, but not happening. Then who?

You want a guaranteed winner, Democrats? May I nominate Taylor Swift? Okay, stop rolling your eyes. I also laughed at the possibility when it occurred to me but the more I thought about it, the more I realized she is the only one who can definitely stop Trump and emerge victorious.

But she’s a singer, not a politician, you say? What was Ronald Reagan before he was elected governor, then president? An actor! What was Trump before he ran for president? A TV host!

As opposed to the multi-bankrupted Trump, Swift is an incredibly successful businesswoman and multi-billionaire. She could finance her own campaign, if necessary. Republicans would attack her as a political lightweight but is she really?

Swift used to be apolitical, playing it safe as so not to offend her country music fans. But as her musical appeal broadened, so did her political voice.

In her “Miss Americana” documentary, Swift says “I just got to the point where I couldn’t listen anymore to people telling me ‘Stay out of it.’ “

During the 2018 midterm elections, Swift endorsed current Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn’s Democratic opponent, and voiced her displeasure after Blackburn won. “She gets to be the first female Senator from Tennessee, and she’s Trump in a wig,” Swift railed. The singer strongly criticized Blackburn for voting against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, as well as her stance against same sex marriage.

“They are both about basic human rights, about right and wrong, and I can’t stand her disguising these policies behind the words ‘Tennessee Christian values,” said Swift. “I live in Tennessee. I am Christian. That’s not what we stand for.”

Swift has not only clearly spoken out on issues important to her but has posted political messages to her 272 million (you read that right) Instagram followers.

Last September, the singer sent out a message urging them to register to vote. What followed was the nonpartisan Vote.org almost immediately recording more than 35,000 new registrations.

Andrea Hailey, the chief executive officer of Vote.org, saw this as “a highly encouraging sign of voter enthusiasm, especially among those who are newly eligible since turning 18.” Yes, Taylor Swift can get out the vote!

Political leaders in both the Democratic and Republican parties would give their right arms for a Swift endorsement of their candidates. But Taylor has made her political allegiance clear.

What other issues are at play in today’s political reality? Being comfortable and relatable on TV? Check. Name recognition? Seriously?

But what about the minimum age requirement to be president? Taylor Swift is 34, and you must be at least 35 to serve. Inauguration Day is Jan. 20, 2025. One month before that, Swift will celebrate her 35th birthday. It’s in the stars. Our 47th president. Miss Americana!

Now if only Swift would agree….
