Bill Maher On Trump Shooting: “The Shooter Has Done So Much Damage To The Left”

Bill Maher is no fan of Donald Trump, frequently stating on his HBO Real Time show that he’d vote for Joe Biden over the Republican challenger even if Biden’s head was in a jar of blue liquid.

Yet Maher was as appalled as anyone at Saturday’s Trump assassination attempt. The talk show host posted a video of himself on stage in Minnesota talking about the situation just a few hours after the shooting.

In it, he made clear that he wouldn’t use the event for comedic purposes.

“I unequivocally denounce [the shooting], I don’t care what you think about that,” Maher said. “Not funny. I’m sure that there will be jokes that people will make because they hate him so much that they wished it went he other way. Not for me.

“When I saw that photo today of him with the blood streaming down his face — I don’t want to say the election’s over but … Anything can happen in an election. but Jesus Christ: MAGA nation finally has its full martyr. They loved it when he went to jail. The mug shot. I gotta say, he’s insane and a criminal. But that mug shot? Fucking nailed it. And he [reacted to the shooting] like he rehearsed it! [Got it on] take one! There will be idiot conspiracy theorists who will say, ‘Oh they planned it.’ He gets grazed and the other guy gets [killed] — that’s so Trump. It’s going to work for him. I can see the memes now — ‘the man the libtards couldn’t kill.’ Biden can’t get through a debate and a bullet can’t stop Donald Trump. It almost doesn’t matter who the Democrats put up now.

Maher presumed to label the shooter as a liberal, even though no motive has been determined as of yet.

“Whoever did this, the shooter has done so much damage to the Left,” Maher said. “[The Left] has lost a lot moral high ground in the ‘you’re the violent people’ and the ‘liberals don’t shoot people, liberals don’t solve it that way.’”

He continued, “When I say ‘moral high ground’ … the 2025 Project, the sort of plank of the Republican Party, which starts their convention tomorrow in Milwaukee, I’ll be there — to go to the strip clubs. The guy who wrote that said ‘this is our new plank,’ he said ‘this is our new revolution for America,’ which I’ve heard a thousand times … everybody says there’s a new revolution. But they don’t always say what this guy said, which is, he added, ‘It’ll be bloodless, as long as the liberals let it happen.’ Okay, that’s not cool either. This shit has got to stop, because none of this violence happens in a vacuum.

“But I’m glad [Trump’s] okay. I gotta say this: He’s the luckiest motherfucker that has ever walked the face of the Earth. In 2016, he lost the popular vote by a lot, he pulled an inside straight [in the Electoral College] to win — everything happened in his way. The Democratic turmoil that’s going on right now with Joe Biden being his opponent. Always lucky, lucky, lucky.”
