New photos emerge in Anthony Weiner scandal

The Anthony Weiner scandal developed further this weekend as new pictures emerged of the Democratic congressman partially clad standing in what is reported to be the House Members' gym.

Gossip website TMZ on Sunday published 11 photos of the New York congressman. The images have Weiner's face clearly visible as he appears to be in various stages of undress showing off his physique. One photo shows a nearly nude man. TMZ.com said it confirmed the photos were sent to at least one woman, and that several were taken in the House Members' gym, located in the basement of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The new photos add fuel to accusations that Weiner violated House ethics rules and raise questions about whether the congressman used House resources to conduct his inappropriate communications.

Meanwhile, the chorus of House Democratic leaders calling for Weiner to step down continues to grow. "I would hope that Mr. Weiner would use this opportunity to reflect on whether he can effectively proceed. I don't see how he can, and I hope he would make that judgment," House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday morning.

Several other congressional leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), have called for Weiner to resign. The congressman announced Saturday he would take a leave of absence from Congress to enter an unspecified treatment program.
