BMW recalls more than 734K vehicles. Check car recalls here

BMW is recalling more than 734,000 vehicles for various reasons, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

BMW has three vehicle recalls

BMW is recalling 720,796 vehicles because an improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump may be exposed to water and short circuit. An electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

The vehicles in the recall are:

  • 2012-2015 X1 sDrive28i,

  • 2012-2015 X1 xDrive28i

  • 2012-2016 Z4 sDrive28i

  • 2012-2016 528i

  • 2012-2016 528i xDrive

  • 2012-2016 328i

  • 2012-2016 328xi

  • 2016-2018 X5 xdrive 40e

  • 2014-2016 228i

  • 2014-2016 228xi

  • 2014-2016 428i

  • 2014-2016 428i xDrive

  • 2014-2016 328xi Gran Turismo

  • 2013-2017 X3 sDrive28i

  • 2013-2017 X3 xDrive28i

  • 2015-2018 X4 xDrive28i

  • 2015-2016 428xi

Dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and plug connector as necessary, and install a protective shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 4, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW is also recalling 12,535 MINI Hardtop 2 Door Cooper SE vehicles. Faults may occur in the high-voltage battery or high-voltage system, resulting in a short circuit.

Dealers will provide a software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 7. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-866-ASK-MINI (1-866-275-6464).

And, BMW is recalling 1,150 vehicles because the left-side longitudinal beam may crack, compromising the structural integrity of the chassis. Reduced structural integrity may result in damage to the high-voltage battery during a crash, increasing the risk of fire.

  • 2024 xDrive40

  • 2024 M50

Honda recalls vehicles over brake issues

Honda is recalling 5,031 2024 Acura ZDX All-Wheel Drive vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (ABS) may activate unexpectedly and release brake pressure in the vehicle's service brake system. A release of brake pressure can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

The electronic brake control module software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Sept. 23. Owners may contact Acura customer service at 1-800-382-2238. Acura's number for this recall is UJE.
