Dive team locates two bodies during search for missing swimmers at Candlewood Lake

DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Two bodies have been found by a dive team during a search for missing swimmers in Candlewood Lake in Danbury, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

DEEP believes they belong to a pair of swimmers — a 26-year-old and a 38-year-old man — who were last seen on Monday. The two are from Danbury.

They were last seen jumping off a boat at about 10:15 p.m., and never resurfaced. The others on the boat then called 911.

The families were notified at 12:30 p.m. Thursday that the bodies were found after a search resumed around 7:30 a.m.

Officials have not yet publicly named the men.
