Gun-wielding woman faces charges in Ocean Lakes campground standoff, report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A woman allegedly pointed a gun at multiple people Sunday night at Ocean Lakes Family Campground near Surfside Beach because she thought they took her dog, a police report says.

The woman’s name is redacted, but authorities will ask a judge to sign off on multiple warrants for pointing and presenting a firearm, documents show.

The confrontation began shortly before 7 p.m. at the North Kings Highway campground in what authorities initially called a “weapons incident.” The situation escalated, eventually drawing a bomb squad, SWAT team, negotiators, a drone unit and K-9 officers to the scene.

The woman was taken into custody at 10:22 p.m., police reports show.
